If a child becomes ill at school or has an accident, every effort will be made to     contact the parent, and the child made comfortable until the parent can be reached.  We have 2 trained first aiders in school who will attend to minor accidents but in the case of a serious accident constituting an emergency, the school will summon expert medical help for the child and, should the occasion arise, a member of staff will accompany the child to hospital and remain with the child until the parent or guardian arrives.  In all circumstances, it is important that the school has an emergency contact or telephone number and parents are asked to ensure that this is made available to the school.

Parents are also asked to inform the school of any particular medical requirements that their children may have.  We have procedures for dealing with children with asthma and for administering medicines. Details of these are available on request.
