An adult presence is provided at break times in terms of the Schools (Safety and Supervision of Pupils) (Scotland) Regulations, 1990.

At Sandwood Primary there are normally 10+ adults in the playground at all  times. Mr Gallagher our School Janitor also assists in the school playground.             

During wet playtimes children remain in class.  Before the teacher leaves the room, the children are settled with a quiet activity at their seat.  ‘Playground’ staff patrol the classrooms and corridors for the duration of these intervals.  Primary 7 monitors keep a watchful eye and have been instructed to tell an adult if there is a problem. 

If a child persistently misbehaves in a manner which endangers others then he/she may be asked to remain in a central area.
